The Dukes County Manger began a Beach Patrol Officer program in 2018 to address traffic control issues on State Beach. The Officers primary job is to patrol the roadway to stop or ticket vehicles parking or driving on the Dunes. FOS, through collaboration with Dukes County, funds the officer an additional 2 hours a day to help with daily roadside trash pickup, check on dogs illegally on beach, bird restricted areas, and to monitor the pond side beaches for vehicles not actively shell fishing.
The Beach Patrol Officer is hired by the Dukes County Manager.
